The Deputy Editor will write, edit and produce daily news and expert commentary covering a wide range of topics across the telecom industry, including 5G, IoT, security, big techand more.
They will also contribute to the management of the Telecoms.com site, the publication of its daily newsletter, and managing third-party contributors, as well as representing the brand externally to PR and industry professionals.
Areas of responsibility and accountability
Contributes to the development and implementation of the publication's editorial strategy by daily producing, curating and developing posts, podcasts, videos, interviews, investigations and all manners of content for the Telecoms.com audience.
Works with other editorial teams, production teams, as well as digital events and live events staff as required.
Generates engaging and interesting stories, opinion pieces, podcasts, video interviews and more by tapping into knowledge and network in markets, as well as Informa's rich data and analytics.
Develops and maintains a solid network of contacts, from on-the-ground practitioners to C-level executives.
Develops a distinct, individual voice to support the brand through social media, and the occasional speaking engagement at industry events and forums.
Stays plugged into site performance and audience needs, always with an eye toward attracting a larger audience and covering the industry impartially, with a healthy dose of curiosity, skepticism, irreverence and a sense of humor.
Telecom industry knowledge and / or tech market familiarity.
Fluent and precise journalistic writing skills.
Ability to set plans and manage deadlines in accordance with an editorial calendar or event schedule.
Ability to collaborate with other publications, stakeholders in the market pillar.
Knowledge of multimedia editorial practices (video and audio).
Ability to follow editorial best practices and workflow across multiple content management systems and social media platforms.
Experience covering events and news in multiple formats (short and long-form stories, video, audio, etc.)
Accomplished writer and journalist with a solid grounding in writing about businesses and communications technologies.
Has the ability to fluently discuss industry trends and observations in an engaging, clear and direct style.
Proven experience in the identification of industry trends with timely, insightful context for the Telecoms.com audience.
Strong work ethic and proven ability to take ownership of writing, editing and production-oriented tasks with limited supervision.
