  • Our work is high profile. It is directly linked to two separate but critically important developments in the financial system : the post financial crisis landscape of mandatory central clearing;
  • and changes and innovation in how people and businesses pay for goods and servicesAs a Lead Policy Analyst in FMID you will be working in one of our policy teams that cover clearing and settlement policy;
  • incoming FMI issues, CPMI or payment policy. In the coming year there are a range of important policy issues for the directorate with continued work on the appropriate regulatory framework for payments innovation, completion of the CCP recognition framework under EMIR 2.

    2 and using our new post EU exit responsibilities to provide advice to HMT on equivalence and for greater rule making. Our policy work involves working with a range of internal and external stakeholders including FCA, PSR, HMT and international regulators.

    The work in FMI regulation is varied which means there’s always something exciting going on. You will use your growing analytical skills and financial understanding to deliver recommendations.

    All this means you’ll get plenty of opportunities to develop your technical and interpersonal skills through exposure to engaging and complex issues.

    FMID is unusual within the Bank in that it brings together supervisors, policy analysts and risk specialists in one place.

    As a small directorate, this means there are plenty of opportunities for cross-cutting working and the opportunity to get an insight into how different areas work.

    Are you who we’re looking for?

    If you’re motivated to work for us, we would love to work with you! We want inquisitive people who enjoy working with people and share our values of diverse ideas and open debate.

    We’re more concerned about what you can bring than what you know. You don’t need a background in the financial sector to thrive here provided you're a quick learner who’s able to analyse problems and make good judgements.

    You need to have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be collaborative and support our inclusive culture. You must be comfortable setting your own targets, delivering on time and working under your own initiative.

    It will be your role to investigate issues and probe further when things don’t look quite right.

    We employ people from all backgrounds to join our diverse and inclusive teams. We have a long history of training and developing staff from a variety of previous careers to succeed in important roles.

    Why should I apply?
