The assistant will aid ongoing research projects examining the role of biodiversity and global change in altering human zoonotic disease risk.
This is a 6 month fixed term position.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
You will assist in all aspects of the research process, from project design, literature searches, collating data, curating and managing databases, through to writing research publications.
You will undertake some statistical analyses of data, under supervision of senior colleagues.
You will manage your own research and administrative activities, within guidelines provided by the project supervisor.
You will contribute to discussions and share research findings with colleagues in partner institutions, and research groups.
You will take part in regular meetings with project leaders and maintain high standards of communication regarding progress towards meeting targets throughout.
The post will be mostly computational and is expected to be home-based for majority of the time, with potentially for some time spent working in departmental offices as rules allow.

Qualifications & Experience
BSc / MSc in Ecology, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Applied Statistics or similar
Some experience in a research setting
Prior experience in collecting data and managing databases.
Strong quantitative knowledge and experience of daily use of coding environments such as R, Python or similar.
Background in producing high-quality written reports.
Basic statistical knowledge, preferably with some experience of regression-based analyses and / or Bayesian statistics.
Ability to work independently, structure time and keep to deadlines.
Good communication and team working skills.
Strong emphasis on initiative and self-motivation.
