An exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our rail engineering team in the North working on a portfolio of engineering associated rail projects including mechanical, electrical, electrification, plant, power and signalling schemes across the region.

Business Unit

A busy and fast paced rail project and framework environment working on a variety of schemes for Network rail across the northern regions.

The business unit is made up of a variety of projects and frameworks specialising in M&E (mechanical & electrical), electrification, plant, signalling, power and lighting projects for a key client in the North of the UK.

AmcoGiffen has ambitious plans to further grow our capability in the rail sector, specifically within E&P projects and frameworks.

With upcoming projects and frameworks already secured as a platform for the business unit to progress, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute towards AmcoGiffen’s future success in the rail E&P sector, in the North.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor you will form an integral part of the commercial team supporting Commercial Managers and Operational project delivery teams, in the daily commercial management of multiple and various rail engineering projects within our portfolio of M&E, Electrification, plant, signalling and power project works.

The works are fast paced and high in volume and requires an experienced commercial candidate with the ability to handle works in this type of fast paced environment.

Day to day responsibilities would include :

  • Working with the commercial team and supporting Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers in the commercial management of multiple sites on time and to budget.
  • Pricing and ensuring estimates are submitted accurately and on time,
  • Resolving pricing issues with clients
  • Client Liaison
  • Liaison with Site Managers to collate information on day to day remits,
  • Subcontractor management
  • Change management and early warnings
  • Contract administration (NEC / NR forms of contract)
  • CVR’s
  • Final accounting.
  • Requirements

    To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a rail engineering environment.

  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management HNC / HND / Degree
  • Contractual experience with NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract
  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a contracting environment
  • Experience in rail (essential) working on projects associated with M&E, Electrification, plant, power, signalling etc.
  • preferred but not essential).

  • Experience working in a fast paced project environment where you are capable of working on all of the above duties and responsibilities simultaneously to strict deadlines and timeframes.
