The mental health of older adults in the district of Turbo, Antioquia, post conflict and during and post COVID-19, 2021-2024.
You will be working on this UKRI ESRC funded project which is exploring the impact of stressful life events, including la violencia and COVID-19, on the mental health of older Colombians.
Specifically, the aim of this joint 3-year project is to understand how political, global and individual stressful life events affect mental well-being among older adults in Colombia, and how their impact can be reduced by a co-produced community intervention.
This project will collect data both in the UK and Colombia, involving qualitative and quantitative data on the needs of older Colombians, a systematic review, as well as the development and implementation of a community-based intervention to improve mental health.
Public involvement is a core part of this project running through all elements of the project. This project is a collaboration between researchers at the University of Liverpool and Bradford in the UK, and the Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia.
