The Role :

Our largest UK site in Harrogate is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant to support and maintain the laboratories within the Large Molecule Bioanalysis division.

The Bioanalysis team performs analytical testing on large molecule drug products, to determine analyte concentrations in immunotoxicology samples or to determine if patients have developed an immunoreaction to the drug.

Performing this analysis, you will support our pharmaceutical and biotech clients through the pre-clinical and clinical trial drug development process.

As the laboratory assistant, you will have responsibility for routine maintenance of equipment within the lab and for providing operational support necessary to ensure the smooth running of the lab.

You will liaise with the laboratory supervisors, laboratory analysts and lead scientists in order to provide the following laboratory support :

  • General housekeeping duties (cleaning, autoclaving, waste)
  • Stocking labs including ordering and booking in reagents / consumables
  • Knowledge of routine use and maintenance of equipment within Large Molecule Bioanalysis
  • Metrology
  • Reagent Preparation
  • As you progress, more advanced laboratory techniques can be acquired e.g ELISA, basic study prep.

  • This is a junior entry level role for candidates who are interested in starting a career in science. The position is suited to candidates that are looking to move into the scientific industry after completing A levels or to actively change the industry they are working in;
  • not scientific graduates.

  • Education / Qualifications

  • Ideally the candidate will have a scientific background, possessing an A level in Science (or equivalent educational standard).
  • Experience

  • Computing skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets (e.g. Microsoft Office packages and Microsoft Project).
  • An understanding of health and safety policies and of GLP / GCP.
  • The post holder should be able to communicate effectively at all levels and integrate well within an established and fast growing team.
