We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity to lead the Process Engineering team within the Technology function.
The team consists of four main facets : (1) pilot plant operation, (2) pilot plant continuous improvement projects, (3) process scale-
up for all aspects of the eLNO® flowsheet, (4) process step-out. The success of the team underpins all aspects of the business strategy on multiple timescales.
The role will be responsible for managing Battery Material (BM) site-related matters in alignment with the JM Site Manager.
Lead and build-out the Process Engineering team in the BM Technology function, ensuring Safety is the number priority and stewarding a Culture aligned with JM Values
Accountable for driving a leading-edge programme of Process Development projects (scientific and engineering aspects), aligned with the Technology Roadmap and NPI process.
Further, oversight of all related Intellectual Property aspects to realise strategic value for the business
Accountable for managing deliverables in alignment with business risk management process, including risk registers, DFMEA, PFMEA, HAZOPS, LOPAs, and in-
house methodologies to de-risk scale-up
Accountable for Technology support for scaled assets, including commissioning and troubleshooting
Accountable for support of business Strategy, including competitive benchmarking and scaling models
Accountable for the timely delivery of samples from pilot assets into Customer Programmes in full alignment with Product Development and Commercial timelines.
Support of Customer visits to site, including oversight of all Process Technology inputs into auditing activities with support from Quality
Accountable for site-based Projects to expand the Pilot plant facility and associated laboratories. Execution in line with Group ePMO process and leveraging best-
practice governance from Capital Projects
Represent the Process Engineering team on the business Capital Projects SteerCo and Major Programme Review Board (as-needed basis).
Responsible for assigning and completing arising Technology actions. Responsible for preparing all presentations in alignment with deadlines and with appropriate consultation / sign-
off. Senior stakeholder management is a key part of the role
Interface with the Process Technology Manager (Capital Projects) to agree resource profile and RACI for Technology support into near-
and longer-term scaled plants
Accountable for managing the tracking of the Process team deliverables in the business PMO
Responsible for site management of the co-located BM business, in alignment with JM Site Manager
Are you the ideal candidate?
You will be / have :
Advanced technical degree in Process or Chemical Engineering; or equivalent experience
Demonstrable experience in a business environment leading the scale-up and optimisation / step-out development of process technology.
Experience with powder-based technologies advantageous
Innovative, entrepreneurial, can-do’ leadership style with an appreciation for the value of Risk management processes; demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines.
Experience with Technology input into Strategy and Venturing advantageous
Demonstrable experience in senior stakeholder management, with strong communication skills
Experience in managing Intellectual Property considerations strategy, portfolio, generation, review
Clear understanding of the processes underpinning chemical industry Capital Projects
Experience overseeing operation of a pilot facility desirable. Site management experience advantageous
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
