Role objectives

Trading IT operates using fixed delivery teams, known as Verticals, which are multi-disciplined groups delivering 3rd line support, small enhancements and project requirements covering the overall deal lifecycle.

The Vertical leadership team comprises the Delivery Lead, Functional Lead and Technical Lead.

We are looking for someone who is not just going to work within the teams but also help drive the overall CCE process and direction in an ever changing system landscape.

You will be interfacing with the Programme Delivery Managers, Project Managers, PMO, developers, business analysts, test analysts and Application Support teams to ensure delivery meets specifications and is delivered to the highest quality within the relevant timelines.

The purpose of the Delivery Lead role within Trading IT is to provide delivery leadership within the assigned vertical. The role is responsible for the overall delivery processes and work execution to ensure delivery meets the requirements of stakeholders and within the relevant timelines.

Working with the Portfolio management team and Programme Delivery Manager to prioritise workloads in the respective vertical that align with the business strategy and priorities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Delivery ownership comprising of all change activity & 3rd level support of the vertical stream and all applications within that vertical.
  • Facilitate and support delivery planning and work with Portfolio Management team to support short term requirements and annual planning.
  • Accountable for the delivery plan, resource forecasting / allocation and final execution prioritisation to optimise delivery performance.
  • Secure smooth and seamless transfer of delivery into operational support.
  • Establish, manage and communicate delivery timescales and release schedules to relevant business stakeholders.
  • Management of vendor resources and / or delivery.
  • Ensure the team delivers to agreed standards & processes and meets its governance and external reporting requirements.
  • Manage ongoing delivery escalation issues within the relevant the vertical, ensuring that the continued successful delivery and operations.
  • Supporting teams that have conflict or issues to get back on track. Face off with the vertical leadership team to business stakeholders to support proposed changes.
  • Manage risks and impediments and work with other Delivery Leads to manage cross vertical dependencies and deliveries.

  • Agile experience using Kanban and / or Scrum
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and able to establish and manage expectations
  • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation
  • An effective facilitator of team and stakeholder meetings
  • Self-starter who is able to work with ambiguity and limited guidance
  • Experience

  • Previous agile delivery experience. Kanban experience is highly desirable
  • Experience within Energy Trading and / or Commodities industry
  • Understanding of software development design, build, test and release processes
  • Strong resource demand / forecast planning
  • Working knowledge of business change management
  • Knowledge and ability to tailor project management methodologies
  • Education

  • Degree level education or equivalent in computing discipline
  • Professional certifications in desired skill areas are desirable
