The Director will develop, implement and conduct a meaningful life enrichment program based on resident's interests, needs and abilities to enhance resident wellness and quality of life.
Develop a monthly calendar that displays this program to the residents, staff, families, visitors and volunteers. Interact with the greater community recruiting volunteers and facilitating community involvement.
Develop an activities program that meets the resident's interests, needs and abilities.
Prepare and post a customized monthly calendar of activities that meets the current Residents interests, needs and abilities.
Encourage resident involvement in planning monthly calendar.
Coordinate with the Administrator for the distribution of the calendar to residents, families, volunteers, leads and appropriate referral sources.
Encourage and expect staff assistance / participation with daily group activities.
Establish and maintain a volunteer program through recruiting, interviewing, training, supporting and evaluating volunteers.
Match the skills and interests of the volunteer with the right resident(s) and / or project(s).
Assist in developing additional resources for special interests of residents taking full advantage of the skills and abilities of volunteers.
Provide materials for independent activities.
Complete initial assessments for all new residents to determine their unique interests and incorporate into subsequent calendars.
Encourage family involvement in activity programs and / or other events.
Ability / willingness to perform all position responsibilities adequately; proficient in Microsoft Word and familiar with Excel and Publisher.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and / or weekend hours, to meet requirements of the job.
Displays strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Displays a positive, cheerful and lively demeanor at all times.
Ability to follow directions and work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience in a social or recreational program in a healthcare setting preferred.
Valid driver’s license, and access to a private vehicle for business use may be required.
