About Jacobs Nuclear & PPP : Jacobs Nuclear is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners).

This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver £7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment.

PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services. Jacobs Nuclear provides the front end design and engineering capability across the PPP portfolio.

We are looking for people who are passionate about developing themselves and in meeting new challenges . As a result of increasing demand for our services, there are significant opportunities for you, as a Process Engineer to support a key project within the nuclear business.

Role Responsibilities The engineer role requires knowledge of process systems, chemical preparation, gaseous exchanges and stored solids.

They will need to support lead / senior engineers to deliver specification of appropriate design requirements for both current and potential developments at the appropriate level of detail for preliminary and detail design phases.

Technical Skills This plant is essentially a laboratory and testing environment and it would be beneficial, though not essential, to demonstrate familiarity with such plants either within or out with the nuclear arena. Be able to demonstrate :

  • extensive knowledge and experience in delivery of major capex projects for construction with an expertise in one or more specialist areas in their engineering discipline,
  • good knowledge of design and construction of similar industrial plants with particular experience of the following :
  • Gas Delivery Systems,
  • Reagent Delivery Systems,
  • DSEAR Assessment,
  • Nuclear Analytical Lab Design
  • Flowsheets, PFDs, EFDs, S&IDDs, Instrument Process Data Sheets, Process Data Sheets
  • Behaviour Skills

  • This role requires a strong and successful interface with Integrated Design Team and other project functions and must work closely throughout project phases.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is essential
  • Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years post graduate design experience of designated skill set preferably within the nuclear industry. Transferrable industry such as the oil and gas processing / refining sector or water treatment arena for examples.
  • Degree qualified.
  • Experience and familiarity with designing for delivery / implementation and associated project construction and execution.
  • Familiarity with and application of current standards within their own skilled arena and an overarching appreciation of multi-design interactions and interfaces.
  • Familiarity with modern CAE packages and interfaces for process plant design. - Evidence of design capability working as part of a multi-discipline team.
  • Confidence and ability to work within supervised roles.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office products
