We bridge the gap between traditional multi-disciplinary and management consultancy, by working across the full infrastructure lifecycle and providing our clients with the continuity assurance and accountability that comes with end-to-end delivery.

Out Transport Planning team of over 400 staff work on some of the most exciting projects across the UK; from long range strategy and planning, to modelling and appraisal of major investments, to delivering transport projects that make a difference for local communities around the country.

Within our UK Transport Planning Business, we have an opportunity for a Principal Transport Planner to complement our current teams in Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle.

You will be involved in the technical delivery of a range of transport planning projects including strategy, appraisal and business case projects, with opportunities to work for various high profile clients across the UK and Ireland.

This role will provide every opportunity for you to make your mark and influence the continuing sustainable growth of Jacobs in the UK.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Support with the delivery of a range of sustainable transport / active travel projects that we are currently undertaking for key Clients within the North of England
  • Working with a team of transport planners, modellers and engineers focused on a variety of scheme development and appraisal projects
  • Leading the delivery of commissions as Project Manager and building excellent working relationships with a range of clients
  • Supervising, mentoring and guiding junior members of the team to ensure successful project execution and commercial performance
  • Supporting with the development of mini bids for our client base
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of the local office business plan
  • Essential :

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline, you will have experience as a Transport Planner for multi-modal transport and scheme development studies with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects
  • Project Management experience demonstrating responsibility for task, financial and risk controls
  • Detailed working knowledge of WebTAG scheme appraisal processes and the application of these in Business Case development and area / corridor studies
  • Ability to produce clear, precise and coherent analysis and reports using data from models and scheme appraisal techniques
  • Experience of successfully line managing, mentoring and developing junior colleagues
  • Desirable :

  • Chartered Engineer or other relevant professional membership / accreditation , TPP, CILT, CEng
  • Experience on public transport and / or active travel projects
  • Bid writing experience
  • A recognised project management qualification
