The Team

The Role

The role will be to help lead our growing Sustainability & Building Physics team in Manchester and the North West. Supported by our wider UK and international teams, who have helped define the Net Zero Carbon agenda globally.

There will be a strong emphasis on business development and industry leadership where you will be supported by the Manchester management team.

You will be required to quickly assimilate the innovative services we have developed so that you can use these to promote our services and wider Cundall capacity in the local market.

Working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will design, analyse, report and document Sustainability & Building Physics projects as well as interface with clients.

You will work across a variety of sectors and will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as we support the development of your professional skills.

You will be responsible for client management and project delivery for our key work streams :

  • Building physics and parametric model services
  • Building performance and operational energy optimisation
  • Certification and compliance
  • Health and wellbeing advice and guidance
  • Net zero and whole life carbon services
  • Sustainability design and ESG services
  • The Skills

    Educated to degree / Masters level (or equivalent) in Engineering or the Built Environment. You will have gained relevant practical experience in a similar role, have demonstrable knowledge and experience of sustainability and building physics, particularly in relation to thermal comfort, natural ventilation, compliance modelling and real operational energy assessments.

    An understanding of financial and resource management is critical.

    A knowledge of the following areas of expertise would be beneficial :

  • Dynamic simulation software
  • Mechanical design
  • Building Regulations, EPCs
  • Planning issues
  • Climate based daylighting analysis
  • Operational energy calculation and life cycle carbon costing
  • LEED, BREEAM and WELL Standards.
  • Given the collaborative and client focussed nature of this role, excellent communication skills and experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges are essential.
