You will be reporting to the Head of IT Procurement, the License and Vendor Manager is an important role at Penguin Random House, part of the Commercial and Vendor Management team within Technology.
You will be responsible for the management of software licenses and technology vendors, ensuring robust overall management of our license position, vendor relationships and value for money.
Within the technology function, various support teams have responsibility for specific activities required throughout the license lifecycle.
You will need to partner closely with all of these teams, to ensure cohesion across all of these tasks.
You will be specifically responsible for license procurement / renewals, SNOW system administration, the production of license reporting, as well as formal vendor management.
As Penguin Random House drives forward with our technology strategy, it will become critically important that this role builds strong relationships within the UK business, the global license teams and also within Bertlesmann, our parent company.
Your Responsibilities / Duties :
Engage with Project, Programme and Technology teams to identify configurations items (CIs) to be managed and advise on their licensing requirements.
Procure new software, ensuring that sourcing activities deliver value for money, are auditable and adhere to all applicable Bertlesmann and PRH policies.
Proactively lead license renewal activities, securing the best deal for Penguin Random House.
Provide pragmatic software contract advice to support considered decision making.
Assess new software requests in line with technology policies.
Update and administer SNOW licence manager or appropriate toolset, to reflect changes to any contracts or licenses, providing evidence of purchase, T&Cs, Software keys etc
Monitor new software volumes to ensure compliance entitlement
Maintain a license forecast partnering with other technology teams to ensure harvesting of licenses for re-use.
Creation and provision of all relevant reporting related to license compliance, budgeting and vendor performance.
De-commissioning of software
Partner with technology support areas to ensure the license lifecycle activities are coherently managed across the teams.
Relationship and Vendor Management
Implement robust communication and data focussed vendor management, managing the performance of vendors alongside PRH service owners, building strong and transparent relationships with key vendors.
Develop measures, benchmarking, KPIs and management reports to demonstrate supplier performance.
Foster strong credible partnerships with all PRH UK Technology teams, wider business stakeholders, global licensing functions and Bertlesmann group contacts.
Actively promote the value that the Commercial and Vendor Management function brings to PRH demonstrating best practise, and knowledge sharing.
Engage with global license management teams and represent the group in all activities and functions

You will also need :
Reference-able knowledge of software licensing models, metrics and lifecycle, gained from either a Software Asset Management or Software Vendor Management background.
Expert understanding of software technology contracts, standard commercial terms, contract constructs, risks, opportunities, costs and the negotiation challenges associated with these.
Extensive experience in technology vendor relationship management.
Demonstrable experience with the analysis of discovery tool data, ability to create credible reporting that can be relied upon for decision making, forecasting, budgeting or audit.
Exceptional ability to read situations, build rapport and influence stakeholders of all levels, balancing challenge with pragmatism.
Ability to tailor the communication and presentation of complex information for a variety of different audiences ensuring maximum impact.
Ability to work communicatively and flexibly within a team, but equally capable of managing stand-alone workload and changing priorities.
Experience of having worked in an environment where processes may not have been clearly defined. Confidence and accountability to ensure that decisions made, are auditable and in the best interests of PRH.
Proven track record of delivering process improvement and pursuing continuous personal development.
PC literate with strong knowledge of standard Microsoft products, especially excel.
Desired Qualification :
SAM / ITAM certified.
MCIPS / IACCM certified.
