17 / S.47) is required. The role comprises a mix of duty work and assessment time.

  • You will be part of the wider First Assessment Service and will need to be able to quickly put together high-quality information such as summaries of enquiries, genograms, chronologies and mapping;
  • in order to allow the receiving team or Social Work unit to be as effective as possible, and to prevent families from repeating information given at the enquiry stage.

    We have a strong commitment to Signs of Safety and use this methodology in our enquiries, assessments, and direct work with families.

    Well defined investigative and analytical abilities are essential, as well as the skill to quickly build rapport with both children, families, and other professionals.

    The role demands a high standard of written work, IT capabilities, and a good understanding of support available to children and families.

    Some of your other key responsibilities will be :

  • Working in an unpredictable, rapidly changing, fast paced environment, and developing and maintaining well defined investigative and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrating evidence-based decision-making skills, recording clear recommendations of the next steps needed.
  • Gathering and analysing information from families and professional colleagues, to assess risk and successfully identify the best / most appropriate service for the family.
  • Identifying creative solutions to family issues to make best use of the limited resources available.
  • Contributing to team development and function, to enable cases to be triaged in a timely way, in line with the service requirement.
  • Contributing to the promotion of consistency for families.
  • Completing assessments within timescales, clearly communicating the outcome of the assessment with children, families, and referrers.
  • Ensuring that assessments are child focused, and the voice of the child has been considered.
  • Implementing the use of Signs of Safety within all aspects of your work undertaken, as a member of the Pathway Decision Team.
