Day to day supervision of maintenance / operational Mechanical and Electrical fitters, providing an added value maintenance service.
Span of control includes Southampton Port (incl. Marchwood / Town Quay / Ealing)
Ensuring Planned Maintenance (PMs) and Reactive Maintenance is delivered on time, to the correct standard, and as required.
Ensuring absolute minimum disruption to the operation of ABP and its stakeholders.
To continually improve the performance of the Maintenance department in its 4 key principles Safety, Quality, Service and Efficiency.
To proactively respond to port and maintenance incidents.
Day to day supervision of maintenance / operational duties of Mechanical and Electrical Fitters.
Day to day liaison with ABP Vehicle workshop to ensure all vehicles are readily available, in service and MOT’d.
Ensuring planned / unplanned maintenance activities are carried out on time, to the required standard and in a timely manner.
Carryout Mechanical Inspection Remedial’s works within agreed timescales.
To work in a safe manner, assist with the collation of risk assessments and work in accordance with ABP’s safe systems of work.
Complete relevant paperwork and provide administrators sufficient information to keep the system up to date.
Assist ABP Procurement Officer in sourcing bespoke spare parts and contractor service.
Ensure On Call rosta is manned to provide level of service required.
Respond to out of hours calls as required, should customer not
Lead Mechanical team ensuring asset availability to facilitate the smooth running of the Port of Southampton.
Work with the company to promote a safety culture, acting as an ambassador for the Beyond Zero’ safety campaign. Also ensuring all works that are planned and carried out are done so in a safe manner and in accordance with SSoW, Risk Assessments and Permits to Work as appropriate.
Daily / weekly and annual maintenance of plant, equipment, and facilities associated with the Port, including carrying out testing, inspection and rectification works.
Planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of assets.
Fault diagnosis and repair completion to port infrastructure.
Regularly deliver improvement ideas around the four key service delivery principles.
To work collaboratively with Health, Safety and Environmental teams.
Co-operate and work closely with other disciplines, contractors and stakeholders.
To carry out work at height as required
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Time served as a trained maintenance engineer with a minimum City & Guilds qualification or equivalent.
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Demonstrated leadership and strong evidence of line management, PDPs / Absence Management / Engagement
Strong evidence of compliance and safety.
Flexible approach to working duties / hours.
Self- motivated with good communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
Ability to work on call / out of hours when required
Confident working at height and on or around water.
Microsoft Office competent
Full, clean driving licence.

Working knowledge of engineering / maintenance in a port industry and or heavy plant.
Knowledge of Lean Principles and RCA (Root Cause Analysis)
