Marsh McLennan is seeking a Technical Product Manager (TPM) to be based in any of our UK and Ireland offices and / or remote working.

This is an exciting time to join our evolving IT team supporting the Marsh Commercial business and as it is working to further enhance its presence in the marketplace though improved use of technology and process improvement.

What can you expect :

Based in our London office you will be given the opportunity to undertake flexibility of both office and remote working.

As the Technical Product Manager responsibilities will include the Non Acturis related systems and applications in use by Marsh Commercial throughout its UK / I operations

The Technical Product Manager is responsible for a portfolio of technology products within a business or functional unit

TPMs have accountability for the projects within their portfolio and oversight of the resources required to deliver on their portfolio commitments including squads, tribes and waterfall teams

Other resources may be allocated from other functional and shared service teams to create the squads, tribes and project delivery teams

As a TPM you will report into the Head of IT / TPM for Marsh Commercial and will be evaluated and compensated against specific business and functional outcomes

We will count on you to :

Have full responsibility for a relatively small portfolio of products with spend of up to $500k per annum or supporting revenue of approximately $200m

Partner with business leaders, Product Owners - to ensure product backlogs prioritise information security requirements and technical debt reduction - and domain architects to create and execute a multi-year vision for their portfolio of applications

This vision includes a point-of-view on the future role of technology for that business or functional area (new technology requirements), application disposition, build versus buy, sequence in which new functionality will be developed (macro level), modernisation approach, application retirement and portfolio ROI planning

Manage the portfolio budget and drive responsible development which is defined as on-time and on-budget development of new capabilities aligned to enterprise standards

The TPM will balance CTB and RTB spend across the portfolio including planning around the application lifecycle e.g. when does an application move into steady state maintenance only mode

You will also be responsible for considering the impact of a pricing versus cost structure and the related impact to technology roadmaps

Proactively identify new technologies available in the marketplace to address specific business needs within their area of ownership so that technology can better serve as a strategic partner to the business

Provide a single point of accountability for customisations or variations needed by geography, business line, or department with the goal of avoiding custom solutions that create excess complexity and increase MMC’s cost burden

Work closely with shared service leaders with respect to incident escalation / communication and with Product Owners to prioritise related remediation development work

Engage proactively with key partners and stakeholders within HR, Finance and similar functions within the operating companies to ensure effective collaboration

Provide mentoring and coaching, managing staff within the defined framework

What you need to have :

Proven experience in managing the technology strategy of one or more products and roadmap planning together with related budgeting

Experienced owning a platform's operational management, overseeing production as well as change

Have a thorough and broad understanding of technology and how it can be used to solve business problems, the business area to which your product portfolio relates including external market trends

Strong stakeholder management and business engagement skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organisation

Ability to present effectively to senior business leaders

Have a solid understanding of security, privacy and regulatory requirements, Agile, Waterfall and hybrid methodologies

What makes you stand out :

Any of the following technical qualifications would be beneficial to being successful in the role : TOGAF, ITIL, Prince2, MSP, CISSP

Ability to quickly create value within a fast-paced, complex work environment

Strong portfolio, program management skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise a large number of tasks simultaneously to complete work on time

Strong communication skills, oral and written
