About the role

Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Submission Manager to join our Regional team to work in Slough.

Role Purpose :

  • To support the work winning team by developing high quality internal and client facing communications documents;
  • To form positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to gather key information for case studies and submissions;
  • To provide high level graphics support for PQQs, tender submissions and other bidding and business development collateral;
  • To produce market-leading submissions, bidding and business development collateral;
  • To liaise with the Work Winning Director, Pre-Construction Managers and Proposals Manager to identify value opportunities for PQQs and tenders;
  • To develop high quality, professional presentations for internal use and external clients;
  • To supervise, mentor and provide guidance and support to more junior members of the work winning team;
  • To engage and work closely with external partners to develop business collateral, managing the process, scope and ensuring quality outputs.

    What you'll be doing

    As a Submission Manager you will :

  • Introduce creative flair and fresh ideas to the production of market-leading submission materials and collateral;
  • Remain up to date with the latest trends and technologies for production of high-level documents, graphics and client submissions;
  • Liaise with the Work Winning Director, Pre-Construction Managers and business development and proposals teams to develop strategy for submissions;
  • Manage the production of case studies through regular site visits, liaising with site teams and attending client meetings;
  • Engage with customers and external parties to determine project briefs and key value drivers;
  • Work with external agencies, producing briefs as required, to manage peaks in workload;
  • Produce engaging and innovative templates and graphics for internal and externalsubmissions, including PQQs and tenders when applicable;
  • Build a catalogue of evidence and knowledge based on client requirements for PQQs, tenders and interviews;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external graphics designers, printers and suppliers of electronic media;
  • Drive continuous improvement in all submissions and presentations, including use of new media, electronic delivery platforms etc;
  • Act as a mentor for junior team members, including providing training and guidance in key software packages as required;
  • Who we're looking for

    You will have the following qualities and experience :

  • Substantial previous experience of producing high quality graphics and marketing collateral;
  • Experience managing proposals, PQQs and tender documents for construction projects (GBP5m - GBP500m);
  • Expert level use of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator; photography and Adobe Photoshop experience desirable;
  • Proficient in the full Microsoft Office suite of programmes;
  • Ability to work well with internal stakeholders at all levels;
  • Understanding of the principles of framework procurement and submissions requirements (PQQs and Tenders);
  • Creative flair; the ability to develop fresh, attractive, client-focussed documents;
  • In-depth understanding of all aspects of the submissions process (PQQs and Tenders);
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure;
  • Understanding of the principles of BIM and 4D animations as they relate to bidding;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, with strong skills in other MS Office software, eg PowerPoint, Excel;
  • First-class literacy and numeracy skills;
  • Exemplary eye for detail and accuracy;
  • Commitment to delivering a high-quality product;
  • Ability to coordinate resources to achieve delivery objectives within tight timescales.
