Ramboll is looking to expand its legal team in the UK with the requisition of a Legal Advisor to be based in one of four main Ramboll UK offices.

The legal team in the UK provides a full service across the UK business and to other Ramboll business units operating in UK.

Its principle activity is the review and negotiation of consultancy contracts and ancillary documents with clients and their legal advisors as well providing advice to the team’s in-

house client base and the management board. The team is also responsible for PI insurance and claims handling matters.

The role of Legal Advisor is to deal mainly with non-contentious matters including complex contractual arrangements and assisting with legal queries.

Further, an important part of the role is promotion of legal awareness across RUK. This role is key in ensuring that the legal team support to the business is efficient, accurate and proactive so that contract negotiations can progress as swiftly as possible.

Main responsibilities

  • Review contracts and other project legal documents including advising project teams on risks in contracts and preparation of the correspondence to the clients
  • Lead or assist in contract negotiations with the client or the client’s representatives
  • Respond to internal legal queries advising on appropriate contract form and specific legal aspects (research if necessary)
  • Liaise with insurers about specific coverage queries
  • Advise and assist in internal governance, completing internal risk management documentation and assisting in obtaining the required approvals where required
  • Promote knowledge and understanding of consultancy contracts and legal issues across the business
  • Assist in development and updates of the company training and knowledge-sharing materials related to legal and commercial matters
  • Key Skills and attributes

  • Legal qualifications or other relevant degree
  • Two or more years’ experience in providing in-house legal support in a consultancy or engineering company in the construction industry
  • an interest and experience in the construction industry
  • Experience in contract drafting and negotiations, construction process and methodologies
  • Working alongside company Directors to negate legal risks in the contract process
  • Able to undertake your own research in regards to specific legal forms and aspects
  • Ability to perform administrative tasks, not only for yourself but other members of the team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
