Jobs like this involve you working with your Underwriters and with a portfolio of Accounts to support with the secure profitable renewals and generate new business in line with agreed area / segment strategies, and underwriting the associated cases within agreed processes and risk appetite.
You will spend the majority of your time supporting underwriting decisions and contributing to business development activities.
You will use your strong analytical, relationship management and communication skills to supporting the underwriting of a portfolio of accounts.
You will refer and manage upwards, case referrals outside of your personal authority limits.
Reviewing allocated cases and support underwriting decisions, following agreed processes at the designated authority level, in order to secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite.
Identifying non-standard or complex risks and escalating to more qualified colleagues to ensure they are handled appropriately
Supporting more qualified colleagues in the handling of non-standard cases in line with established standards, procedures and guidance provided
The issue of policy wordings or policy endorsements and input of data to computer systems in timely and accurate way.
Establishing an effective relationship with their Account Management colleagues and others
Contributing to technical audits and peer review processes as required to support and enable the maintenance of an effective control environment
Contributing to the production of new policy wordings or reviews of existing policy wordings to ensure policy documentation is current and accurate
Supporting an agreed portfolio of Accounts in order to maximise profitable revenue potential from new and renewal business and achieve agreed business targets
Contributing to the implementation of marketing activities, business development initiatives, etc to increase overall revenue, share of wallet’ and business mix in line with agreed Account Plans
Contributing to the wider development of effective business strategies, priorities and market propositions, drawing on own knowledge, understanding and interpretation of local markets, competitors and Accounts
Accessing senior direction and support as appropriate
Promptly identify and escalating those more complex cases to more qualified colleagues and work with them to deliver an outstanding service to the broker / client
Developing a trusted, deep and long term relationship with their colleagues to generate, progress and close new, up selling and cross selling business opportunities
Being aware of and adhering to our regulatory framework at all time
Understanding your insurance market
Effective broker account development and management
Being able to negotiate flexibly and appropriately
Effective selling skills
Customer service experience in financial services industry or other service industry e.g. retail
Experience working across functions / matrix organisation to collaborate and build strong relationships
