Job Description :

The Local Government Advisory Team (LGAT) delivers advisory services to local government, fire and police clients across the UK.

As sector specialists, we respond to the needs of our clients and each project tends to be unique. The variety of work we undertake can range from acting as strategic partner providing a range of services over a long period, to smaller projects delivered under a challenging timetable.

We help our clients to make good strategic decisions, to develop their organisations and to successfully meet strategic and financial challenges for example, evaluating commercial opportunities or alternative service delivery models.

We also help clients to implement strong governance arrangements and to develop robust financial planning and controls for example, focused reviews that offer ideas to improve existing arrangements.

We can also help organisations develop their own people, so they are equipped to take on their challenges using their own resources.

What you'll be doing :

  • you'll support the delivery of advisory assignments to local government, police and fire clients
  • you'll take responsibility for assigned areas, including having your work reviewed and working to time and budget
  • you'll support business development activity for LGAT and the wide range of the firm’s services to local government, police and fire clients and targets
  • you'll contribute to the development of the team's methodologies and market knowledge through your knowledge of the sector
  • Who we're looking for :

  • you’ll possess an undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • you’ll be familiar with the creation and review of spreadsheets, documents, financial analysis and report writing
  • you’ll have strong attention to detail, numerate and commercially aware
  • you’ll ideally have experience of working in the public sector, or with public sector clients, in one or more areas of local government, fire and / or police
  • you'll ideally hold a CCAB qualification
  • You should be commercially focused with the ability to deliver innovative solutions. You should be focused on self-development as well as having the desire to coach, mentor and develop your colleagues.
