Role overview

To work as a member of the Global Risk & Audit team to identify IT risks within the business and examining and evaluating the adequacy of controls available to mitigate those risks.

Key Accountabilities

  • Undertake IT audit projects to departmental and other appropriate (e.g. IIA, ISACA) standards. Audit work will include reviews of :
  • o IT General Controls;
  • o Projects and programmes;
  • o IT Security.

  • Work with the Risk & Audit management team to maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. Group CIO and Regional IT Directors) to help ensure the audit work carried out adequately addresses the key risks in the Group.
  • Work with the business to facilitate improvements in the controls environment to mitigate risks to an acceptable level.
  • Review technical data, identify associated risks and interpret this into easy to understand terms for non-IT colleagues.
  • Ensure that reported actions agreed with management are followed-up to establish whether they have been carried out to an acceptable level.
  • Assist with the preparation of appropriate Management and Audit Committee reporting
  • Use expertise in IT audit to assist other members of the Risk & Audit team in addressing IT risks as part of their work.
  • Assist in the continuing development and improvement of the Risk & Audit team

  • Job Controls

    1. Financial : limited direct control, although a high performer should expect to play an influential indirect role over the Group’s IT expenditure.

    2. Staff : no direct reports

    3. Other : role is wide-ranging, as the role is required to give assurance over all aspects of IT including functionality, commercial suitability and security.

    Essential skills :

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Good relationship management capability, including dealing confidently with senior management
  • Enthusiastic, confident and a team player
  • Flexible and positive approach to work, including willingness to undertake substantial international business travel
  • Able to pay attention to detail whilst combining with the ability to see the big picture’
  • Organised and able to prioritise and meet deadlines. A strong ability to self-manage will be critical given the international travel.
  • Desired experience :

  • At least 3-4 years previous IT audit experience, although candidates with an operational IT background may be considered;
  • Use of ACL within audits;
  • Has undertaken security audits;
  • Working in a global organisation with senior stakeholders;
  • Risk assessment prior to undertaking an audit; and
  • Project / Programme assurance.
  • Desired qualifications :

  • Relevant auditing qualification (e.g. CISA, QiCA, ACA, IIA)
