Job Description

Directs and monitor import / export compliance processes and procedures

  • Develops a best practice Customs compliant program; drives internal controls to sustain compliance
  • Ensuring adherence to the Seqirus compliance program and regulatory requirements; proper classifications and proper documentation for both import and export in daily operation, maintaining compliance with all applicable government regulations
  • Diligently monitor entry status, intervene as necessary and respond to information requests from Customs, FDA, Census, USDA, OGA, broker & stakeholders
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with government agencies, agents and vendors
  • Establishes and maintains "trusted trader" and CTPAT status with U.S. Customs
  • Develop trade compliance training material and conduct employee training.
  • Develop and implement an audit program to maintain global trade compliance, including random audits of entry documents, broker invoices, entry folders, etc.
  • Review and standardize Company’s use of third party service providers (e.g., customs brokers, logistics) for improved compliance and cost savings.
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert for Americas Trade Compliance

  • Exercise working knowledge of government contracting requirements and stay current with U.S. government contracting regulations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for trade compliance; serve as central point of contact for interaction with government officials and customers’ and suppliers’ compliance representatives.
  • Analyse and interpret import / export regulations and maintain current knowledge of changes.
  • Provide regular updates of regulations and compliance requirements to senior management and other Seqirus stakeholders as needed.

    Prepare and submit necessary documentation

  • Prepare, review, and submit applications for import / export licenses, permits and other government authorizations, including requests for commodity jurisdiction determinations, commodity classification determinations, internal advice, voluntary disclosures, and other trade-related submissions.
  • Provide information and reports necessary for public disclosure and risk management.
  • Prepare and submit other reports as necessary : Intrastat, 7501, MSS , C79, etc.
  • Identify and implement process improvements

  • Liaison with business unit logistics and operational personnel to drive efficiency and cost savings in the transportation of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Skills and Experience :

  • Ability to apply trade compliance knowledge and experience to complex issues with minimal need for external resources.
  • Proficiency with trade compliance systems and ability to research transactions and prepare reports in SAP. SAP experience is required.
  • Detail orientated with excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to implement process improvements
  • Intermediate MS Word and Excel skills.
  • Ability to influence in a highly matrixed environment and across a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • 8+ years of Customs and Trade experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical environment
  • Experience working in a government regulated environment
  • Comprehensive understanding of internal controls, compliance, ethics, U.S. Customs regulations, other government agency regulations and Custom broker processes
  • SAP experience required
