APPLICANTS MUST :
As a Communication Infrastructure Technician, you will be required to work at heights in excess of 100 metres on support structures such as masts and towers, so you must have a head for heights.
It could be your responsibility to assist with the erection of communications masts and systems, radome installation structures or install and repair fibre optic and data communications cables in a secure operations room.
To make sure you are fully comfortable doing your job you will be trained to the highest standard in the use of various types of climbing, safety and rescue equipment, as well as fall arrest systems and other personal protective equipment.
TRAINING YOU'LL RECEIVE
Your career will start with 10 weeks of basic recruit training at RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire. The course is designed to help you adjust to military life.
As well as fitness and military training, you will also learn about the RAF lifestyle.
After graduating from recruit training, you will move to RAF Digby and attend the 18-week specialist Communication Infrastructure Technician foundation training.
You will study a wide range of subjects such as Antenna Theory, Antenna Maintenance Practices and Procedures, Working at Height, Rescue Procedures, Health & Safety and Basic Engineering.
