This is an exciting opportunity in Daventry for an Applied Mechanics Technical Advisor
Your impact will be seen in these and other ways :
To Create and manage experimental equipment and methods. Advises and guides less experienced experimental engineers.
The results from the experiments are used to determine the validity of the design to meet the customer requirements.
Design recommendations are then provided as needed.
Obtains input and negotiates with Design, Thermal Sciences, Materials and Product Validation as well as vendors and delivers key structural performance
Uses systems knowledge and expertise to make decisions in the area of structural testing and data
Creates, manages, improves and applies testing and measurement methods
Provides problem resolution leadership for complex systems with a high degree of ambiguity and often global business impact.
Leads the development and improvement of work processes and systems across functions.
Coordinates and directs work of technical project teams and Lead large or multiple engineering projects.
Skills and Experience Required :
Previous Technical Specialist / Specialist Engineering experience
Good experience in using MS Office tools, Matlab, LabVIEW, nCode, Siemens Test.Lab and Windows operating systems.
Measuring operational deflection shapes during engine and generator set operation
Providing oversight for strain gauge placement, data reduction and interpretation
Specifying and implementing instrumentation to capture on-engine physics according to project requirements
Fatigue testing of components including setting up of test fixtures for components to test durability against service life requirements
Working collaboratively with customers to design fixtures to test specific components with respect to wear, fatigue, fretting, and overload
Project planning and follow-up with communication to ensure delivery of work on-time and under budget
Required Education, Licenses or Certifications
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.
Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary £52,111 - £63,690 (dependent on experience)
