Department Overview

The ESN Implementation team is responsible for the Integration Mobilisation within the ESN Programme.

The role is based in our Basingstoke office during the Mobilisation phase of the ESN but may require travel to other sites in a limited capacity.

The ESN ITNM Integration consultant will, under the direction of the OSS Project Manager, work collaboratively with the ESN Architecture and Design team, UK Home Office and ESN implementation teams.

The ESN OSS is an integrated suite of Tivoli COTS tools that support the customer network and its processes. The Event Management Implantation Engineer will be responsible for building a Remedy Ticketing integration, developing existing ITM Agent integrations and implementing additional SNMP based integrations.

This could include participating in the analysis, design, development, integration, testing and deployment. The successful candidate must have strong hands on experience with Netcool ITNM, ITM and Impact, an understanding of IT Service Management with an exposure and working knowledge of Data Networks, and exposure to business / IT process methodologies such as the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL(r)) or eTOM.

Additionally, you must be able to work with a team of OSS implementation engineers and coordinate incremental success towards the customer's functionality requirements.

The primary focus of this position is to work with the customer team members to analyze, define and implement the solutions.

This is a hands-on position and will require the successful candidate to leverage their previous integration and implementation experience to satisfy the customer's requirements.

Job Description

  • The key responsibilities of the Event Management Engineer may vary during the lifecycle of the Project;
  • During the Mobilisation Phase key activities include but are not limited to;
  • Aide designers to develop requirements for and implement the following :
  • Polling rules for server and Network infrastructure.
  • SNMP based probe integrations.
  • ITM Agent based monitoring. OS / ITCAM and Agent builder a requirements.
  • Impact polices integrating into various DBs and Remedy.
  • Responsible for developing multi layer Discovery and Topology, creating stitchers where necessary.
  • Integrating ITNM derived data into Tivoli Predictive Insights.
  • Assist full time resource as needed with Tivoli specific troubleshooting, training, capability development, etc.
  • Facilitate release management of solution thru formal technical reviews and requirements definition.
  • Help to understand and definite correlations between events as well as populate systems with agreed upon information
  • Documentation of installation, configuration, customization procedures. Delivering and updating LLDs where applicable.
  • Basic Requirements

  • Excellent working knowledge of Tivoli ITM 6.3, including configuration of all types of Agents
  • Excellent working knowledge of Impact 7.x and strong knowledge of creating and developing Impact policies. Good experience in building Remedy Web services and SQL integrations.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Tivoli ITNM 4.x as a whole including Stitchers, RCA, GUI, networking protocols and their limitations, and commonly connected systems.
  • Experience with SNMP : versions and their limitations, traps, definitions, MIBs, varbinds
  • Familiarity with DB2 database is required, and integration of ITNM / ITM with TDW is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Tivoli Predictive Insights is desirable.
  • Ability to efficiently interface with a Linux based server is required
  • Familiarity with reading and writing SQL queries with DB2 or MySQL
  • Ability to communicate complex issues to technicians, management, and business teams
