  • This role has been created in order to effectively manage the Enterprise Data Zone ensuring that L&G business units adopt the concept and to align project deliveries across L&G to align with the evolution of the EDZ.

  • What you'll be doing
  • To lead the development of the Enterprise Data Zone and creating the future vision of data at L&G. Ensuring that L&G business units adopt the concept and to align project deliveries across L&G to align with the evolution of the EDZ and the data vision.

    To provide the governance, policies and frameworks for the use and management of the EDZ, ensuring also compliance to Group policies, GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) & PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) and others.

    To facilitate, lead and develop further the Data Science Launchpad establishing its position as the focus for data science training and innovation across L&G.

    Establish the L&G Data Science Launchpad as a best in breed capability, leading innovation in UK and to lead the market and secure new revenue streams for the L&G Group.

    This role will be to lead the strategic development and future road map for the GCD and place customer data and insight’ at the core of L&G’s future strategies.

    The role will lead the Data Science Launchpad, which reaches out across all Divisions and will work strategically with Group HR.

    This is a major initiative reflecting a strategy to up-skill L&G people and raise the level of data literacy across the organisation.

    The role will be tasked with establishing the Data Science Launchpad as a market leader in the UK, recognised for its innovation and generating new and external revenue streams.

    The role will be operating as a multiple Product Owner’. This role will be fundamental to the future strategic direction of data within L&G.

    Principal accountabilities :

    To act as Product Owner and visionary to projects across L&G to ensure the evolution of the EDZ. Engage with the business and senior stakeholders to promote the adoption of the EDZ

    Work with The Group Director Data Sciences to develop the strategic direction and reach of the EDZ across the L&G Group.

    Promote and develop the working practice of DataOps and agile delivery.

    Grow the EDZ budget to a £10m target through working with the business divisions but also through creating new external data streams based on the growing L&G data science capability.

    Play a strategic role and have responsibility for the budgets and funding of the EDZ and Data Science Launchpad. Liaise with senior stakeholders (CEOs of business divisions) and external stakeholders.

    Responsibility to assess and manage risk via management of the risk register for the EDZ, maintaining this through good stakeholder management / holding people to account for managing risk appropriately.

    Analyse data flows (lineage) and ensure they are mapped and up to date, reflecting all the processes within the EDZ. Create and manage the Group Data Dictionary.

    Where 3rd parties are involved ensure full due diligence is undertaken, all governance processes adhered to and all transfer mechanisms secure and in line with group policy.

    Maintain and manage a disaster recovery plan, scenario planning and impacting business processes where appropriate.

    Ensure that all EDZ deliveries are designed to be customer-centric to promote good customer outcomes in accordance with Treating Customers Fairly principals.

    Lead the EDZ team to ensure that all individuals are motivated, engaged, trained and developed to meet the quality and service requirements of the team.

    To take the lead in all matters regarding the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.

  • What we're looking for
  • Qualifications :

    Degree level or equivalent or extensive experience in data, Data Science and DataOps

    Knowledge :

    Mainframe servers (desirable), GDPR (PECRII) understanding, Governance framework design and implementation, modern data practices, approaches and technology.

    Ability to identify new business opportunities and revenue streams

    Experience :

    Modern data tooling and technology, innovation, senior stakeholder management both internally and externally.

    Leadership :

    Ability to lead both a small core team and a wider matrix team. Inspiring leadership style. Ability to become an external face of data science of L&G and promote the L&G data science innovations.

    The role requires extremely strong and empathetic leadership to influence IT, Data and business functions in the Divisions and making business cases to the CEOs and CFOs.
