Experienced Infrastructure Engineer required to join our leveraged 24 / 7 Operational Support team based in Chorley.


This role is suitable for an engineer with good Windows server support experience, Desktop, Storage and Unix platform support experience is also desirable.

Completion of maintenance activities including security patching, software upgrades and vulnerability remediation across multiple platforms and customer domains, in addition to supporting the wider UK Digital Operations IT Team regarding incident and problem resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deployment of Security Patches via various toolsets including IBM BigFix, Ivanti, Microsoft SCCM
  • Remediation of patch deployment failures and other security vulnerabilities
  • Diagnosing and resolving incidents, including P1s, and P2s. Engaging Service Restoration Leads & On Call Engineers as required
  • Work Out of Hours as part of a 24 / 7 shift team based in Chorley.
  • Create, manage and evolve polices, processes and procedures
  • Install, maintain and support new applications and Infrastructure
  • Prioritizing and managing several activities at one time.
  • Key Attributes

  • Good understanding of Security Updates & Vulnerability Management
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and dealing with Ambiguity
  • Knowledge of monitoring alerting, logging and status messages
  • Troubleshooting network issues
  • Familiarity of VMWare (vSphere, vCenter etc)
  • ITIL must understand principles
  • Essential skills

  • Experience of supporting a variety of Windows client and server operating systems
  • Experience of Cloud Technologies / Infrastructure
  • Fundamental networking knowledge IP, DNS, IP routing, network address translation etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with Windows Server operating systems
  • Out of Hours

  • Out of hours and weekend work in 12 hour shifts required as part of a 24 / 7 shift team.
  • SC clearance will be required for the role .
