Lead Developer (Software & Apps Manager)

Arqiva are currently recruiting for a Software & Apps Manager to join and lead a team who are situated within our Media Networks division, working with some of the biggest names in video streaming.

This is a great opportunity to be a part of the business that is growing rapidly and becoming an even bigger focus for Arqiva in the long term.

The team are responsible for the design and development of our IP and cloud platforms that are used to stream video services across the globe for our partners.

This is an exciting role that will see huge growth and will, in turn, come with greenfield projects. The role will involve leading a team of up to 6 developers and will also have the opportunity to mentor and support graduates in their early careers as developers.

You will also be responsible for, but not limited to :

  • Develop the software development team to be a centre of excellence for developers within Arqiva.
  • Produce test strategy, approach and plans with the project team.
  • Ensure all product enhancement requests and open support issues are prioritised and addressed.
  • Collaborate with our Architects, DevOps, Programme Management and Project Management teams, enhancing and ensuring an agile working environment.
  • Mentor, coach and leadership through development techniques and practices.
  • Deliver out of hours support as part of an on-call team when required.
  • To be considered for the Programme Manager role, you must have the following :

  • Experience leading or mentoring a team of developers.
  • Extensive background in either Python or PHP (7+)
  • Experience of architecting and developing for security, scale and resilience.
  • RDBMS skills, especially with regards to database design and tuning e.g MySQL / MariaDB)
  • Experience of developing with AWS.
  • Ability to work with Linux on CLI and Git overflows.
  • Ideally have experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra or DynamoDB.
  • Familiar with streaming media encoding.
  • Experience with CI / CD tools.
