Reporting to the International Tax Director, based in Newbury, the purpose of this role is to provide global (excluding North America) tax support across the Micro Focus Group, including HPE Software ensuring opportunities to deliver value are maximised, risks are managed and all compliance obligations are dealt with.

The will work with various members of the Group Tax team.

  • The scope of the role includes : significant support with group reporting and local provisions; working alongside the business and advisors to support with direct and indirect tax compliance to ensure timely filings;
  • supporting with local tax audits and tax authority enquiries; supporting with and implementing local tax advisory projects;
  • providing day to day tax support to the business in each territory; local territory tax input into integration and restructuring projects;
  • supporting implementation of the groups transfer pricing models and; acting as an ambassador for the Tax function with the business.

    Detailed Role description

    Reporting

  • Support with interim and year end group reporting and local provisioning.
  • Support with other group wide reporting obligations such as CbCR
  • Tax compliance and reporting

    Work with the finance team and local tax advisors to support with global tax compliance matters, including :

  • Direct tax computations and returns for the UK entities including detailed work in connection with RDEC and patent box claims, group relief and worldwide debt cap / new UK interest restriction rules;
  • Transfer pricing entries and documentation support in ensuring transfer pricing arrangements are accurately reflected across the group;
  • Support with tax payments, including UK quarterly instalment payment calculations; and
  • Local tax audit and enquiry support.
  • Ad hoc advice and support

    Provide day to day support to the business on direct and indirect tax matters and where relevant employment tax matters

    Provide accurate and timely tax advice and support with delivery and implementation of adhoc tax advisory projects in relation to a range of group wide projects.

    Support with the global roll out of group tax strategies

    Support with tax risk management including SAO, implementation of SOX controls and publication of tax strategy

    Build strong relationships within the business and be an ambassador for the tax department

    Monitor and advise on legislation changes

    Experience and qualifications required

  • ACA or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ tax pqe either in an accounting firm or in-house
  • In-depth experience of managing corporate tax affairs across a number of territories
  • Provide day to day support to the business on direct and indirect tax matters and where relevant employment tax matters
  • Provide accurate and timely tax advice and support with delivery and implementation of adhoc tax advisory projects in relation to a range of group wide projects.
  • Support with the global roll out of group tax strategies
  • Support with tax risk management including SAO, implementation of SOx controls and publication of tax strategy
  • Build strong relationships within the business and be an ambassador for the tax department
  • Monitor and advise on legislation
  • Experience of multinational transfer pricing arrangements
  • Ideally experience of working with or for a UK plc
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Problem-solver, with high level of enthusiasm and strong commitment to meet tight deadlines
  • Good communication skills and ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues / advisors in diverse locations
