The Team - People & Culture

The Group People & Culture (“P&C”) team is a global function with team members based in Malaysia, Singapore, UK, Germany & Vietnam. We are a small specialist, dedicated team and work closely with our P&C Regional teams where we operate (LATAM, CIS, SEA and ANZ) to deliver value across all our Regional People and Culture functions.

Our P&C team is passionate about building a culture of learning where everyone is inspired and motivated to do their best work. Our team is multi-talented who have skills and experience in everything from talent acquisition, learning and development, rewards, organisational development, HRIS and people analytics.

This role is part of the global leadership team and is a critical ‘right hand’ to the Group Chief People & Culture Officer. This is a new role and will lead the centre of expertise for Reward for all Group 

SCOPE OF ROLE

  • Lead the evolution of the compensation roadmap across multi country, global, publicly traded companies with emphasis on the executive/senior leader population.  Stay current on governance and disclosure requirements and anticipate internal impacts from proposed or pending regulatory changes.  
  • Quickly understand the company’s existing compensation and benefit plans, philosophies and mechanics, as well as the company’s operations.  Propose contemporary, progressive program alternatives and analysis where needed.   
  • Ensure that global reward policy is created, implemented and maintained to support the broader People & Culture  strategy and business strategy. 
  • Executive compensation design, development, and administration. Advise the remuneration committee on all aspects of company directors’ remuneration and employment terms and conditions, and implement its decisions.  
  • Lead and evolve as appropriate the reward life cycle activities and harmonising practices across the Group.  
  • Design, develop and evolve existing LTIP programs and their governance and operations based on Board guidance and global market best practices 
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and board members to create, communicate, measure and account for GFG’s rewards programs. 
  • Oversee the current share plan platform and subsequently build strong analytics capabilities that allow the company to leverage the data it gathers through the system. 
  • Develop messages, toolkits, and templates to facilitate easy communication and understanding of all compensation and benefits arrangements. 
  • Review global benefits arrangements; support the design and create a flexible benefits programme in collaboration with the regions.
  • Recruit, develop, supervise and mentor a small team of rewards professionals. 
  • Champion the overall strategy, cross regional and leadership of the compensation & benefits team, participating in projects and programs when possible. 
  • Build a strong working relationship with the Management Board and Group Chief People Officer along with and all members of the Remuneration Committee, ensuring that all reward related topics are managed timely, accurately and smoothly.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE  

  • You have led a whole of business Comp & Ben functions with emphasis on executive compensation in a UK PLC or EU environment, or have been a senior leader in a consulting practice that specialises in reward, equity planning and board remuneration governance. 
  • Experience of international business that spans across the major geographies (i.e. EU, SEA, CIS, ANZ, UK).  
  • Experience advising board level or similar including exposure or experience to the Remuneration Committee for management board level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in executive compensation design, development and administration.   
  • Considerable expertise in equity plans and design, ideally with a solid understanding of the German Corporate Governance Code and the two tier board structure (Supervisory and Management).  
  • Led, developed and motivated reward teams in a matrix environment. 
  • Operated effectively as a partner to the Group Chief People Officer in contributing to the development of the broader People & Culture agenda. 
  • Ideally, bring experience of  building data analytic capabilities, as well as having experience in improving People & Culture business processes through technology. 
  • Experience of leading and managing multiple complex projects simultaneously to successful outcomes. 
  • A graduate degree and further training in an analytical/numerical or related field is preferred.

  • Has executive presence in communicating technical compensation matters with the Remuneration Committee chair and its  members. 
  • An effective verbal, written, formal, and informal communicator with confidence to engage independently at CEO level.

  • A strategic thinker who applies continuous improvement to the compensation and benefits planning and administration of the function. 
  • Strong data analytics capabilities and problem solving skills with an ability to weigh pros and cons and provide options for design and solutions. 
  • Translates strategic business goals into appropriate performance metrics and compensation structures.

  • Develops and designs solutions which are fit-for-purpose and are not over-engineered.  
  • Maintains a reward philosophy centred on simplicity and clarity.
