BRE seeks an experienced Non-Executive Director, who can provide a creative contribution to the board. Their role will provide independent oversight and constructive challenge to the Executive Directors and bring a level of objectivity to the Board’s deliberations.
They will be expected to play a key role in monitoring executive management and in contributing to the BRE Group strategy and performance, key appointments and standards of conduct.
They will have a breadth of experience, relevant skills, qualities, and be of appropriate calibre to add real value to the role.
Key responsibilities :
Provide general counsel and a different perspective on matters of concern to the BRE Group Chair and BRE Group CEO.
Provide a creative and informed contribution to the BRE Group Board. Acts as a constructive critic reviewing the objectives and plans devised by the CEO and the Executive team.
Take responsibility for monitoring the performance of executive management against delivery on strategy and objectives.
Undertake a prime role in Executive Director remuneration, appointments and succession planning.
Assist in connecting the business and board with networks of people and organisations that may be valuable to the business and represents the company externally where appropriate.
Satisfy themselves that financial information, controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible.
The successful candidate will be an experienced senior leader with prior experience of operating at Board level within an organisation of similar size and complexity.
Ideally, we are looking for candidates with recent experience at Board level of the following functions : finance, operations, legal, human resources and health & safety.

Exceptional decision making and sound judgment based on critical analysis of facts, evidence, assumptions and ethical dimensions
Strong analytical and numeracy skills and a focus for detail
Exceptional communication, self-awareness and relationship skills with the ability to navigate different perspectives
Strong leadership skills and commercial acumen
Duration : 3 year term (renewable once). Indicative time investment is expected to be not less than 30 hours per month.
