The British Medical Association (BMA) are looking to recruit a Policy Advice and Support Officer to join our Independent Contractor Doctors team within the Pay and contracts function.
The independent contractor doctors team is responsible for negotiating national contracts for services and undertaking related policy work.
Our main areas of responsibility are contracts and policy related to GP practices, locums, GP premises, primary care support services, primary care networks, prescribing and dispensing practices.
Your role will include undertaking research and drafting written reports, letters and advice, responding to members queries, and coordinating high level meetings and following up on actions.
You will support the team, help deliver plans to engage with members and stakeholders, and contribute to the development of guidance and support materials.
You will work with colleagues in communications, public affairs and legal to help us shape national debate
To succeed in this role, you will need to be able to grasp new policy concepts quickly and undertake research and analysis of policy issues.
You should also have excellent writing skills, be able to draft policy reports and briefings, and establish effective relationships with staff in the organisation, with internal committee members and with counterparts in relevant stakeholder organisations.
