Our Opportunity

Due to our continued growth and increasing workload, we are looking for an ambitious Associate H&S Consultant who will work on a wide variety of projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering principal designer and CDM services.

This role is based in Manchester; with the flexibility for both home and office working.

Our Pick Everard H&S Consultancy is a core growth discipline. Primarily the practice delivers the principal designer role as lead designer for its Multi D projects that range from billion pound MOJ schemes to sustainability installation programmes of work.

In addition to internal appointments the team also have their own clients and private sector work such as masterplan developments and high end retail.

Our H&S team also deliver client adviser services and bespoke services across the built environment.

The successful Associate will be responsible for growing the team and client portfolio in the North West, through the support of the Health & Safety team leads.

This role will suit a Principal or Associate H&S Construction consultant who has experience working within the North West Region.

Supported by our national team this position will act to coordinate and take ownership for projects in the region. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate autonomy, the ability to deliver projects to a high standard with sound business acumen and commercial awareness.

Our business plan seeks to grow our team and this role will be key to these plans in securing clients, projects and pipeline in the region.

This role will report to the Associate Director for Strategy in the H&S team forming strong ties and engaging in the future planning and strategy for the team.

As part of this role the Associate will be expected to lead regional bids, track resource requirements and provide input into the resourcing strategy for the team led by the Associate Director.

  • The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate;
  • Proven ability to lead H&S in large complex projects and niche technical projects
  • Have a sound knowledge of CDM regulations and the duties of the principal designer
  • Have sound knowledge of general H&S
  • Have experience in project management
  • Have experience in commercial management
  • Have experience in business development
  • This role is intended to take ownership of projects in the Manchester region and North of England where we currently see strong potential for continued growth.

    About You

    The successful Associate H&S Construction Consultant will be a dynamic, enthusiastic, responsible and practical person, who shares the same values and ambition of our consultants.

    Technical Competencies

  • Significant (5-10 years) relevant experience
  • Experience in either construction site safety or design (Architecture, Engineering, Surveying etc.)
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety preferred (or equivalent) and membership of a professional body (CMaPs, Technician IOSH)
  • Practical experience in managing or providing dedicated CDM / H&S advisor services / role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2015
  • Undertaking regular CPD activities
  • Good technical and industry wide Statutory Regulation knowledge
  • Proven capability of managing major projects / clients
  • Good Microsoft office and other software package skills
  • Behavioural Competencies

  • Excellent organisational, communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Excellent technical H&S Advisory management skills
  • Autonomous in role honest and reliable, with high levels of integrity
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to services development and continuous improvement
  • Self-motivated and ability to motivate and manage teams and address difficult elements of projects
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage time with multiple tasks
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills and leads by example
  • Good rapport and engagement with other parts of the business.
  • Actively involved in promoting all disciplines.
