Overview / Responsibilities

Wood are currently recruiting for a Senior / Lead Mechancial Engineer with experience of working in the Nuclear Industry.

Wood are looking for someone with a good broad ranging mechanical background who is used to taking the lead and has a demonstrable track record of delivering mechanical projects effectively within a highly regulated environment.

The role provides the opportunities to develop technically and managerially. Wood are looking for candidates who deliver well and also encourage and develop others to do so within their teams.

As part of the Wood team, the successful candidate will potentially lead on a broad range of mechanical projects within a variety of environments.

Skills / Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Self-starter with a professional approach and a technical background and industry experience
  • Wood are looking for a Senior / Lead Mechanical Engineer who has proven of experience within a nuclear or highly regulated environment.
  • Motivated individual with the ability to work to deadlines and communicate project progress
  • Good communication skills and ability to articulate information
  • Ability to interface and liaise with key client and internal stakeholders
  • Computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft office 2010 packages
  • Committed to Continuous Professional Development
  • Wood are looking for candidates who are willing to travel to customer sites.
  • The candidates must be able to display a broad mechanical understanding in order to be able to undertake different projects in varied locations.
  • Desirable Skills and Experience

    The following skills and experience would be advantageous :

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical engineering
  • Chartered Mechanical Engineer or similar demonstrable experience
  • Familiarity of Defence / Nuclear sector would be advantageous
  • Familiarity / understating of hazardous materials
  • British National with eligibility to obtain and maintain full UK security clearance (SC)
