In this varied role, you’ll be responsible for underwriting a range of real estate and social housing facilities, both commercial and corporate.

You’ll assess transactions and provide complete recommendations for senior management or credit committee approvals. You’ll be given a good degree of autonomy enabling you to support the sanctioning of deals within your own discretion.

What you’ll be doing

  • Analysing, evaluating and approving real estate and social housing applications, ensuring robust and consistent standards of credit underwriting
  • Ensuring all relevant financial and non-financial aspects are considered to ensure that all risks are identified
  • Formulating an independent view and challenging Relationship Directors and Managers from both a credit risk and business case perspective
  • Challenging and confirming internal rating assessments completed by Front Office
  • Ensuring credit ratings are reflective of the risks and consistently applied - assume the role of Risk Models champion
  • Identifying, assessing and managing underperforming clients, adopting appropriate early warning tools and measures where necessary
  • What we’re looking for

  • Underwriting experience in a range of commercial and corporate facilities; real estate and / or social housing sector knowledge is desirable
  • Experience in providing complete recommendations for senior management
  • Ability to support the development, testing, embedding, and enhancing of the bank’s Strategic Risk Systems
  • Strong communication skills both orally and written form able to articulate in a coherent manner
  • Effective time management, demonstrating the ability to continually prioritise workloads and exceed prescribed deadlines
  • What else you need to know

    Given the recent impact of the Coronavirus outbreak we will be conducting all interviews via telephone or video-conference where possible.

    This role can be based in London, Manchester or Leeds.
