The Physiotherapy service within Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Band 5 Physiotherapist to work in the Acute Older Persons’ Mental Health Physiotherapy Team at Charlton Lane Hospital in Cheltenham.
We are looking for an enthusiastic physiotherapist who is keen to experience and to develop their skills within the field of mental health and dementia.
The successful post-holder will work within an established Therapy Team in Older Age Mental Health Services Inpatients, with a day per week in a recovery unit for adults of working age.
This will allow for development of experience in both specialities. You will also work very closely with our OT colleagues in providing a holistic approach to therapy.
The post will offer the successful applicant the opportunity to enhance and further develop skills in the areas of falls management, musculoskeletal, orthopaedics, respiratory care, neurology, end of life care etc.
and the application of these within a mental health setting. You will also gain further skills in areas associated with the wider physical health and well-being agenda.
There will be extensive opportunities for learning, by regular in-service training, a preceptorship programme and access to the Trust’s training centre where sessions covering specific topics related to mental illness will be available.
There is also a trust-wide Band 5 Physiotherapy training programme that covers both physical and mental health topics. The post holder will also undergo supervision and appraisal as per Trust policy.
This is an excellent opportunity for a physiotherapy graduate to secure their first years of work in the NHS under an established team or an experienced band 5 physiotherapist looking to broaden their clinical experience.
The Trust aims to recruit and retain the best possible staff who, through the application of their skills, qualification and experience, will make a positive contribution to our business of providing quality health care services.
It is the Trust’s view that the costs associated with moving house in order to take up a post with us should not restrict our ability to recruit the excellent people we need, therefore we support staff to relocate with our relocation policy.
The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description / Person Specification.
For more information regarding this opportunity, please telephone Dave Anderson, Physiotherapy Manager at Charlton Lane Hospital, on 01242 634156.
This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory training and post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions.
Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.
