    The Role : Since launching in February 2011, MR PORTER has established itself as the premier global online retail destination for men's style.

    Editorial content put together by a team of dedicated Editors and Creatives sits alongside the latest products from the world's leading designers.

    The xx team are now seeking a talented Art Director to join the team based in our offices in Westfield. You Will : Be responsible for concepting and creative execution of all MR PORTER Editorial content, across the Journal, video and social channels.

    Generate best in class stills and video content through inspirational creative, concise moodboards, strong execution and innovative graphic design.

    Manage the Editorial creative design team, providing leadership, inspiration, guidance, support and direction. Encourage excellence, ambition and a team spirit.

    Work with production to allocate resource within the team to greatest effect Work strategically to drive brand awareness and deliver strong engagement through creative Work with the Creative Director to develop the MR PORTER content visual direction ensuring this is central to all creative projects Establish MR PORTER creative as market leading, innovative and when possible as award winning.

    Develop and maintain relationships with photographers, film makers, illustrators, designers and their agents for editorial creative and work strategically with other leads in the business to ensure the strongest approach to external talent Art direct and oversee art direction for fashion, beauty, still life shoots and video, ensuring our content is always on-brand, diverse, contemporary, desirable and within agreed budgets Keep up to date with emerging trends in fashion, design, film, art, media and technology where relevant to MR PORTER and the design team Provide support and assistance to the Creative Director.

    Management Collaborate with styling, marketing, tech, retail, photography and editorial to lead teams through product and marketing message concept process and projects.

    Develop the seasonal look and feel to support merchandising and buy strategies. Manage the art team through multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ensure all projects are well planned and timely delivered as well as creatively Create a world class creative team; Consistently review and evaluate team, conducting twice yearly appraisals, Identify needs for training and development, coaching and mentoring;
  • Assess needs and conflicts within the department; Ensure teams function effectively to achieve MR PORTER’s business goals.

    Review of project work for highest standards of quality, consistency, accuracy and successful project completion. Critically evaluate the creative process and work to improve with the creative team.

    Liaise with external contacts in the preparation of and delivery of design briefs for partnership or joint marketing sites.

    Identify and allocate team goals and objectives. Identify succession plan and recruitment needs for Design team. Self-motivated and able to communicate with the wider MR PORTER team to ensure business needs are met A sense of humour and a passion for the MR PORTER customer and brand You Have : Proven depth of design and art direction experience in editorial / fashion environment Proven management experience Excellent verbal and visual communication skills Depth of experience across online, print, experiential design and a good understanding content platforms Highly proficient in design, typography, retouching using Adobe Creative Suite Knowledge of HTML and CSS Detail orientated and extremely well organized
