An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Northern Care Alliance Foundation Trust which is seeking to appoint Band 5 Electro Bio Medical Engineer / Technician.

This is a full-time permanent role within the EBME Department which currently sits within the Facilities and Estates division.

This is an opportunity for applicants who aspire to progress their career within a friendly team which currently amounts to 17 technical staff and 5 admin staff across 3 sites.

The successful postholder can achieve career progression and full support from the current team and will be actively encouraged in their role.

Main duties of the job

Northern Care Alliance Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a motivated and disciplined individual who can work within a spectrum of specialist medical devices including Infusion devices, defibrillators, Incubators, Multi parameter monitors and Vital signs monitors.

The applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their skill set in working with wide variety of equipment; however, successful postholder will be actively supported throughout their career and the Trust will provide them with the ideal continuous learning opportunities.

The successful postholder will work as a part of both reactive and planned teams, and have an opportunity to work on wide variety of specialist medical equipment.

We are looking for a dedicated team player educated to HNC Level in an engineering principle / equivalent who has a sound knowledge of Medical Device principles.

You will ideally have an NHS experience / background and be confident in working independently.

Person specification

Essential Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • HNC (level 4 / 5 BTEC) minimum in Electronics engineering
  • Desirable criteria

  • Clinical engineering level 3 or above
  • Essential criteria

  • Experience in a field of Medical electronic maintenance and repair
  • Specialist knowledge in the application and use of a wide range of Electro biomedical equipment
  • Desirable criteria

  • Wide range of supplier approved training on the servicing and repairs of Electro-biomedical equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience of current legislation recommendations for the management of medical equipment
  • Experience of working with supplier to resolve and manage clinical risk with the use and application of medical devices
  • Experience of working in an ISO9001 engineering environment.
  • Applicant requirements

    The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
