Mencap is the leading voice of learning disability. We want to see a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included.
We are determined to achieve this by changing attitudes, providing services and influencing those who can help us change the lives of people with a learning disability.
Volunteering with Mencap is your opportunity to help us achieve this, whilst having the chance to develop your skills, meet new people and join a passionate and dedicated team.
Do you have a dog and are you able to bring it along with you to bring happiness and enjoyment to a person with a learning disability?
Dog Walking Volunteers have multiple benefits - not only do they allow the people we support to meet new volunteers and spend time with their dogs, they provide a health benefit too, allowing the people with a chance to get out and about, stretch their legs and get some fresh air.
We support a woman in her 60s in the Aigburth area of Liverpool who loves dogs and would benefit greatly from such a volunteer.
You might take her on a walk to the local park or simply spend time with her at home with your dog. She would like you to visit on either a Tuesday, a Thursday or at the weekend.
Please see the role profile below for more information.
Please note : it is essential your dog is docile and friendly with new people.
