The EMEA Industrials & Energy team works as the financial advisors to top clients in the industrials and Energy sector.
The group consists of leading sector coverage verticals which include : Aerospace and Defence, Mobility, Building Materials, Business Services, Capital Goods, Chemicals, Diversified Industrials, Paper and Packaging, Power & Renewables, Oil & Gas, Transport and Infrastructure.
The team continuously supports the transformation of the European, Middle East and African as well as the Global landscape in each of the verticals it covers and has a strong track record with high profile EMEA and Cross-Border transactions such as the CHF 80bn merger between Holcim and Lafarge, Bayer’s $63bn acquisition of Monsanto, Praxair’s $70bn+ merger with The Linde Group, ChemChina’s $46bn acquisition of Syngenta, Brookfield / CDPQ $13bn acquisition of Johnson Control Power Solutions, ABB’s $11bn sale of Power Grids division, Rio Tinto’s $4.

Key responsibilities of the role :
Origination, Relationship Building and Coverage
Idea generation - aware of trends and developments within the Energy / Industrials market and combines this with product knowledge to spot opportunities for CS to assist clients.
Production of pitches - works with Analysts & Associates to produce well-argued presentations and thorough analysis. Increased involvement in design and structure of presentations, due to increased ability to stand back and see the bigger picture.
Verbal presentation of analysis and sections of pitches to clients of all levels (presenting, marketing, external client meetings).
Origination and Execution of Industrial & Energy situations
Needs strong analytic and broad public deal experience in the Industrials & Energy space.
Idea generation - aware of trends and developments and combines this with product knowledge to spot opportunities for CS to assist clients.
Verbal presentation of analysis and sections of pitches to clients of all levels.
Builds positive client relationships through formal and informal meetings and telephone discussions.
Deals with client on detailed, day-to-day aspects of a transaction.
Liaises with advisors, lawyers, accountants and other counter parties to produce various transaction documentation.
Builds complex financial models, works with clients to develop inputs and modelling approach and uses output to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
Travels with clients to visit investors worldwide through road shows and other PR activities.
Produces documents for CS internal approval processes.
Management and development of Analysts / Associate and takes a prominent role in training initiatives for junior colleagues.
Coordinating with client on detailed, day-to-day aspects of a transaction.
Liaising with client’s other advisers, lawyers, accountants and other counterparties.
Verbal presentation of analysis recommendations to clients of all levels.
Supervising complex financial models, working with clients and other advisors to develop inputs and modelling approach and using output to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
A chance to lead and review due diligence materials.
Producing documents for CS internal approval processes.

Technical / business skills & knowledge :
Strong modelling and technical skill set.
Able to produce technically excellent written materials prospectuses, credit committee, investment banking committee memos, client pitches.
Able to use technical skills and knowledge for issue resolution and give advice.
Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task across many tasks and projects and plan ahead.
Able to present in a measured, clear, articulate way in particular with regard to technical issues.
Demonstrate ability to learn, can manage, train and coach juniors.
