Role

The Finance Manager supports the Head of Finance with the financial health of Unique Homestays. Producing financial reports and developing strategies based on financial research.

Supporting the Head of Finance in guiding the Senior Management in making sound business decisions over both the short and longer term.

The role has a significant opportunity to enhance and innovate the current process, controls, and operations within Unique Homestays Finance function to establish an area of excellence and best practice.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company.
  • Track the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the accounting records and financial systems and assist with the preparation of monthly accounts for multiple businesses.
  • Seek out methods for minimising financial risk to the company.
  • Research and analyse financial reports and market trends.
  • Provide insightful information and expectations to the Head of Finance to aid decision making.
  • Present financial reports to the leadership team, stakeholders, and clients in formal meetings.
  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company.
  • Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
  • Provide learning and guidance to other members of the Finance Team, to support their ongoing learning, development and career progression.
  • Assume responsibility for monthly payroll preparation and reporting.
  • Review VAT returns.
  • Contract outside services for tax preparation, auditing, banking, investments, and other financial needs, as necessary.
  • Job Qualifications and Skills

    Minimum qualifications and skills

  • Advanced degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in a senior finance role.
  • Superior mathematical skills with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Leadership skills and experience including people management.
  • Understanding of data privacy standards.
  • Double entry book-keeping experience and management accounts reporting.
  • Accounting systems experience (preferably Xero).
  • Confident communication across all levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in delivering upon multiple tasks proactively, accurately and in advance of deadlines.
  • Preferred qualifications and skills

  • Experience working in commercial and / or residential property.
  • Experience gained within the hospitality industry.
