Senior Football Analysis Manager

Purpose :

We are currently recruiting for two Football Analysis Executives to join CFG on a full-time permanent basis. The role holder can be based in either Manchester or London.

This role will play a pivotal role in delivering analytical projects within the CFG Football Operations department to inform football decision-making, collaborating with internal stakeholders in order to drive the development of talent and the growth of player value across CFG.

Accountabilities with Key Outcomes :

Analyse complex data sets (e.g. large, incomplete, distinct) and evaluate information from multiple sources to identify key takeaways and trends, highlighting opportunities or making recommendations for CFG's football operations

Undertake player development benchmarking and case studies of best-practice clubs and talent markets of interest to identify insights and opportunities relevant to CFG

Create well-formatted and concise documents & presentations with appropriate tone and clear narrative for a range of audiences including senior management, with managerial guidance

Collaborate with colleagues across the business to gather information / insight to inform and develop analysis projects (e.

g. Data Insights & Decision Technology, Talent Management, Finance, Legal)

Assume day-to-day responsibility for the progression and delivery of projects, providing visibility to line manager and seeking input as appropriate

Knowledge, Skills and Experience :


  • Undergraduate or Master's degree - preferred in Economics, Finance, Statistics or other relevant degree
  • Analytical mindset and critical thinking skills, able to identify insights and present information clearly and concisely
  • Previous relevant experience (analytical role at football / sports company, management / strategy consulting, finance, banking, strategy unit of a top tier company
  • Good understanding of the football industry and football club operations
  • Good understanding of football club financial statements and key finance / investment concepts (e.g. ROI, opportunity cost, IRR, etc.)
  • Able to work with different people / departments, who may vary in personality / working styles / skill areas
  • Advanced user of Microsoft PowerPoint with ability to create well-formatted and bespoke presentations with a clear narrative targeted at varying audiences
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, including use of more complex formulae (e.g. array formulae, data tables, 'what if' analysis) and application of modelling best practices (e.
  • g. traceability, 'single source', colour coding)

  • Able to work reliably on highly sensitive projects with demanding deadlines, protecting confidentiality
  • Can apply an "80 : 20" approach, focusing time on those areas most critical to a successful project outcome
  • Excellent attention to detail, consistently producing robust, reliable, and accurate analysis free from errors
  • Able to manage multiple projects at once, balancing priorities and timelines while communicating clearly to line manager
  • Desirable :

  • Working towards or in possession of business / finance related qualifications (e.g. CFA, CIMA, MBA)
  • Understanding of additional specialist software packages (e.g. Tableau)
  • Knowledge or experience of working with or within the technical / talent side of a football / sports company
  • Business fluency in most relevant languages to Football Analysis department (French, Spanish, Portuguese)
