We are Pro-Pak Foods, a leading producer of many of the Nation’s most loved ready meals and convenience foods. Producing 150,000 individual meals every day from our base in Malton, our Team’s and Chefs continually work hard to exceed our customers’ expectations.
We currently have a requirement for a Retort Operative to work nights 10pm to 6am Monday to Friday.
The role involves learning all aspects of retort operation. All ready meals are pasteurised or sterilised in the retorts to give them extended shelf life.
There are pre-set programmes to cope with the different pack sizes and different product heating characteristics.
Standard procedures must be followed to ensure that the function operates efficiently and accurately as this is critical to food safety.
Retort Operators are required to work systematically and work to the documented standards to ensure all aspects of food safety and health and safety compliance.

About you :
We are looking for individuals with a pro-active and positive approach who are flexible, reliable and accountable.
You should be able to work as part of a team and having a can do attitude is vital, you must be able to work confidently without constant or direct supervision.
You must also be able to work alongside other departments within the business primarily the ready meals teams.
Knowledge of a Food Manufacturing environment, health and safety awareness and food hygiene and food safety aspects would be desirable.
A good understanding of English and maths is required. Completing required documentation accurately, and with attention to detail is essential for this role.
