Outline of the Role :
As the business has expanded, there is the need to appoint a temporary accountant to work on process improvements and internal controls.
The position will work closely with the Commercial Accountant and Finance Director, as a dedicated resource to undertake projects within the finance team.
Initially this will involve overseeing the accounts payable team and implementation of new standards, policies and processes within this team.
Key Competencies :
Self-starter, motivated to work independently
Diligent, with a strong attention to detail
Demonstrable track record of stakeholder management and project management
Previous team management capabilities
Fully qualified or near completion of qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
Previous experience within a relevant manufacturing sector desirable.
Main Accountabilities :
To undertake specified projects by the Commercial Accountant and Finance Director as and required.
Improve and design processes within the finance function, which could include : purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, import / export, receiving, fixed assets, cash flow, forecasting and BI.
Organise and manage the workload within the team directly related to the process changes.
Implement weekly / monthly review processes and identify key metrics. Improve team internal control documents e.g. reconciliations. Test internal controls.
Coordinate with IT department for system issues, maintenance and development.
Assist in month-end closing where necessary e.g. preparing journal entries and detailed account analysis
To work within the company management system, processes and procedures, so as to fully compliant with all standards, legislation, governance and specifications.
To ensure the strategic direction, quality, environmental, health and safety policies are understood and where required the objectives, targets and key performance indicators are measured, evaluated and reported to demonstrate continuous improvement of the management system.
To ensure all activities enhance customer satisfaction and meet the requirements of all interested parties.
To ensure all activities reduce or eliminate pollution to the land, sea and air.
To promote and use the philosophy of reduce, re-use or recycle of all wastes, materials and products.
