Role summary

This is an exciting time within procurement at Specsavers under the leadership of a visionary and innovative Director of Group Procurement.

You will be joining at the early stages of the transformational journey, and, in your capacity, will have a voice and real influence in the shape of the future of procurement within Specsavers.

In line with Specsavers’ strong retail, service ethos and entrepreneurial culture, we are moving away from a traditional procurement model, focusing on tactical purchasing and buying to a proactive and strategic model.

As a result of this exciting journey, we are looking for commercially-minded and forward-thinking procurement professionals.

  • As Senior Category Manager for Logistics / Warehouse / Manufacturing, you will work closely with key stakeholders to develop strategies and tactics for procurement categories and initiatives, providing thought leadership;
  • identifying, creating and implementing initiatives to maximise value and ensure ongoing management of supplier contracts and relationships.

    Our Supply Chain operation provides critical products and services that support our both store partners and support operations.

    You will be ingrained within the operation where pivotal to implementing robust procurement practices, develop and implement category plans as well as provide commercial and category insight to deliver the best value products and services for our manufacturing and distribution sites and business partners as our warehousing and logistics stakeholders.

    You will be working across a number of different categories such as warehousing and distribution, manufacturing equipment, manufacturing consumables as well as many indirect categories to support the operations.

    Working with a number of business partners, you will lead the procurement and placement of robust contracts for a number of categories to support our end to end global supply chain.

    You will challenge suppliers to consistently deliver against the agreed performance levels as well as driving efficiencies, value and innovation.

    This is a fast paced and varied role, so the ability to multitask and strategically prioritise your workload is essential to delivering sustainable value for our partners, our customers and our business.

    This role could be based in Southampton or in Kidderminster with travel out to our key supply chain sites as needed.
