The Role : Key Tasks :

  • Work as part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional, agile product development team to develop our new data platform from the ground up.
  • Lead and motivate your team to consistently high standards in engineering practices and delivery of quality software
  • Line management tasks for your direct reports, e.g. : appraising performancecoaching and providing feedbacksupporting their professional developmenthelping them to resolve technical and non-technical problems
  • Mentor and train junior or less experienced software engineers, ensuring they are knowledgeable in critical aspects of their roles
  • Integrate with wider enterprise systems using service oriented architecture
  • Write well tested, documented and peer-reviewed code that complies with agreed architectural and design standards
  • Work with Product Managers and QA to ensure software is high quality and meets user requirements
  • Assisting with the recruitment for developers on the extended team.

  • NoSQL databases (Cassandra)
  • Apache Spark
  • Algorithm Development
  • Machine Learning
  • Java / Scala
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Stochastic Processing Analytics
  • A track record of problem-solving in the human and communication aspects of software product development
  • A positive, constructive approach with an emphasis on collaboration and good execution
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with agile engineering practices such as Scrum, continuous Integration, automated testing and deployment
  • Fluent English (spoken and written form)
  • Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience of people management and team building
  • Experience or education in chemistry, pharmacology or the life sciences
  • AWS Development / Deployment experience (CloudFormation, Terraform, Puppet, CHEF or similar)
  • Linux experience
  • Familiarity with and efficient use of standard tools as GIT, Artifactory, Jira, Confluence
