Our second innovation : Elvie Pump, the world’s first silent wearable breast pump, is making it possible for new mothers to pump anytime, anywhere.

Elvie Pump has received international praise, including being listed as one of Times 100 best inventions in 2019 and wearable design of the design of the year’ at the Dezeen Awards.

As a business, Elvie has received more than 30 awards, including being named as one of 15 startups To Watch by The Sunday Times, ranked as the 6th fastest growing business in the UK by SyndicateRoom in 2019.

Tania Boler has recently been rated as the 8th most influential person shaping british technology in 2019 by Business Insider and both products have been featured in the Oscar Nominee Gift Bags.

In April 2019, Elvie announced a $42 million Series B from IPGL, Octopus Ventures and Impact Ventures, bringing the total raised thus far to over $50 million.

Our Series B represented the largest ever fundraise in Femtech. This new round of financing will accelerate Elvie’s research and development efforts, as well as help grow brand awareness and distribution.

  • Who you are

    We are looking for a full-time Data Engineer to join our award winning team. We collect sensor data from our hardware devices via accompanying smart-phones apps, and also maintain comprehensive databases of user interactions and behaviour regarding our products.

    We develop detection models for firmware and mobile applications, to provide the user with valuable insight in real-time, even if they aren’t connected to the internet, and support the work of the wider team by providing actionable insight on user behaviour.

    As a data engineer embedded in the data science team, you will have a significant impact on the development of process and tools to support analysis, machine learning model training and deployment.

  • You're a data engineer with at least 2 years of experience
  • You have advanced programming skills in Python
  • You have a strong foundation in algorithms and data structures, and honed problem solving skills
  • You are a Git power user
  • You understand the importance of data and model versioning, and have worked with DVC, Pachyderm, or similar tools
  • You are familiar with containerized production tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • The idea of working within a successful, high-growth start up in a fast-paced role excites you
  • What you will do

    Implement cutting edge solutions to difficult problems

  • Work across our entire data stack, from the storage of raw sensor data from our hardware devices, to the deployment of machine learning models within firmware and mobile applications
  • Work collaboratively with the devops and firmware engineers to ensure continuous improvement
  • Have a significant impact on developing infrastructure and process for the data science team
  • Provide the tools and data to support the development of new and improved models and analysis
  • Educating, explaining and supporting

  • Champion strong coding skills and best practice surrounding code and data version control
  • Provide high-quality data products and tools, for needs across the business (data science, engineering, UX, marketing, sales, etc)
  • Requirements

  • 2 years of commercial experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL
  • Advanced programming skills in Python
  • Solid understanding and experience of unit testing
  • Understanding of best practices surrounding package development and maintenance
  • Experience developing data pipelines and deploying models with tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience of versioning data and pipelines with tools such as DVC or Pachyderm
  • Experience of the data science process - able to work collaboratively with a data science team to provide the right data and insight at the right time
  • You have excellent communication skills, both scientific and non-technical with the ability to write and discuss reports and system specifications
  • Experience with firmware development for embedded devices (desirable)
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (desirable)
