Purpose of Role :
The Rheology Scientist will use existing knowledge and develop further rheological and associated techniques to ensure that Xaar is at the forefront of understanding fluid behaviour in inkjet print systems.
The role includes effective communication to apply this knowledge in new product design and development and in ink applications testing.
To achieve this the job holder will need to be inquisitive, detailed, highly resourceful and prepared to challenge assumptions.

Reporting Relationships :
Key Accountabilities :
Supporting Product Integration and New Product Development through;
Continued development of understanding of rheological constraints and requirements of inkjet / microchannel systems.
Developing correlations between jetting metrics and rheological parameters to enable performance prediction.
Identification, development and introduction of appropriate measurement methods and strategies.
Specification of Fluid Requirements
Making understandable and useful information available to R&D and the wider company.
Generating useful information for Xaar’s customers and partners.
Promoting rheology across the company (and beyond).
Working with R&D engineers to develop improved fluid path designs for Xaar’s inkjet products
Key Internal Relationships :
Providing data for Product Development, Integration and Technology teams will require working with Engineers, Scientists and Technicians across R&D, Operationsand Sales Engineering functions.
Key Challenges :
Providing useful, useable, leading edge rheological information to maximise the success of new product designs and enhance the performance of existing products.
Effective liaison across the whole development team
Specifying and defining equipment and resource requirements

Person Specification :
Thorough and careful experimentalist
Sound understanding of the physics of fluid flow.
High level of personal organisation and flexibility in order to manage conflicting tasks
Commitment to generate information to the highest quality standard
Ability to present data in a clear and directed way
Ability to plan projects / work packages and keep to programme
Good team worker
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications and Experience :
Degree or post-graduate level qualification in a Physical Science, Engineering or Materials Science.
Fluid flow dynamics
Experience of interpreting experimental data, drawing conclusions and making recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
