The Strategic Bidding Officer role is responsible for providing a high-quality bid writing service across the University, producing bids for research and enterprise projects on time and to a standard that will generate funding, in order to improve the success rate and value of projects for which the University bids.
The post forms part of the Research and Innovation Funding support team and as such the post holder will contribute to a programme of staff training and assist in the development of resources to support staff with applying for funding.
This post is also responsible for pro-actively seeking new funding opportunities, and communicating them effectively and appropriately across the University.
Demonstrating the ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple ongoing activities effectively, you will be able to assimilate and present complex written and numerical information to a diverse range of audiences.
A pro-active, customer focused individual with excellent current knowledge of the local, national and international funding landscape, and the ability to develop and grow this knowledge rapidly as it relates to The University of Northampton and its priorities.
Able to evidence a track record of writing persuasive bids, commercial tenders and / or funding applications, and co-ordinating input from other parties both within your organisation and outside, which have resulted in significant project and / or research income.
This may have been within the Higher Education, charitable or commercial sectors.
Essential : Honors degree, Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable : Relevant vocational / professional qualification and / or membership of a relevant professional body, MRes,PhD or equivalent
The Research and Innovation Funding Support team works across the University to support generation of income from research and innovation funding organisations such as UKRI, as well as commercial tenders and consultancy income from private, charitable and public sectors.
We do this through horizon scanning, partnership and network development, funder liaison and staff training, assistance with the development of ideas into projects, right through to bid writing, contract support and supporting successful staff in managing their projects post award.
We also ensure all bids go through the correct sign-off processes and provide clear reports summarising bidding activities.

Successful candidates for academic posts at the University of Northampton will be expected to adopt ABL as standard in their teaching practice.
