This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS). The Department is a growing and vibrant department in the Faculty of Science and Health.
DMS is internationally known for its research in a range of areas, and offers an excellent education to its students. The Department is expanding due to increasing student numbers, and now wishes to appoint additional professors and lecturers to help us grow our teaching and research.
Duties of the post
The research of the department is structured in two groups : Data Science and Mathematics. The new Professor is expected to lead the Data Science research group of the department.
The post will also include teaching on our data science, actuarial science and mathematics courses at undergraduate and / or postgraduate level.
This may include delivering existing modules and developing new ones and enhancing our research-led education in this area.
and generate substantial research income commensurate with subject area norms.
Other duties will include supervising undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students and carrying out administrative duties.
Appointment will be made as Professor.
Qualifications and Skills required
Applicants should have a distinguished academic record, including internationally excellent research, appropriate markers of academic esteem and credibility, and / or professional recognition, PhD in Data Science or Statistics or a related discipline.
You should also have a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain this at an appropriate level within a defined period of appointment.
demonstrate teaching excellence at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and the ability to provide academic leadership in a range of appropriate contexts.
